Walking Your Way to Fitness | Trifter


A lot of us overlook the fact that walking is a profitable exercise. Some  even complain that they do not like to walk because they run out of breath doing so. They have clearly forgotten that it is a form of exercise, the cheapest  if you ask me. One does not have to invest with the right gear or tell you how to do it right. It was the first milestone that we had achieved when we were babies and the last form of activity that will be missed, once our old bodies had seen the tear and wear of illness and age.

  1. You're so right. I used to walk around the UP acad oval every afternoon and that helped me lose weight. I should be doing that again. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. That is true. Before I got married I have lost many pounds of walking atleast 15 minutes going to work and vice versa. Unfortunately, now I can't do it but I try to walk every afternoon with my son.

  3. Agree. It is a form of exercise, meaning good for the health. You don't need to have a goal like losing some pounds just so you could exercise. 

    And the loss of breath, is just for starters, you'll get the hang of it once you do it regularly. all things need effort, even exercise.

  4. Walking is indeed helpful especially to those who are just starting to get fit. We really can't just jump into running without proper warm up.

  6. I admit that before I'm really so lazy to walk, but during my pregnancy, I had to deal with it whether I like it or not. LOL!

  7. We do walking almost everyday! If it is raining we will go to the gym. My husband and I has a place to go and do the training if it is not possible to do the walking. It is indeed great exercise.. Walking is perfect and very healthy and FREE!

  8. thats so true. i try not to use the elevator even the escalator if i had too.. i even try to avoid shortcuts if my time allows me... though im quite stuck at home because of my newborn, i try to walk here and there, kitchen to living room, plus swinging my babe is like lifting weights to me :D

  9. Such good advice... And we do forget. I guess because it isn't the trendy exercise anymore... It was once. My husband and I have been talking about it a lot lately though... (notice: talking- not walking) but I hope to start tonight.

  12. {Melinda} I have to admit, I do NOT like to exercise in general. But I don't mind walking. It isn't complicated and I always feel better after having done it. Walked 2 miles on the treadmill at the gym this morning! 

    Enjoyed reading your "About Me" page ... so proud of you for getting back into writing and for your accomplishments. I LOVE writing ... always has been my passion!

  13. Walking has been my exercise, either on the treadmill, or walking around our place. It helped me stay fit, and I'm glad to say that I don't gain weight despite that i eat a lot :D

  14. It's amazing how this post is so timely. I'm starting to work on my fitness and wellness project and was thinking of walking 30 mins everyday to give me a good start.

  15. Strongly agree. I regularly take a treadmill exercise whenever I have time at least twice a week and swimming once a week too. I study inside the wall city Intramuros which take a little 5-10 minutes’ walk from the train station everyday and have to say I love walking however there are times that I have to hate it like walking under the sun. Hehehe! but sometimes I have no choice! you have very nice post and advice :) Happy blogging to you.

  16. Hi Sarah, I think you're right. Add to that, I think walking is the best way to jump start a healthy lifestyle coz it's so easy for most of us to do. There's not much thinking involved.

  17. Walking is indeed an overlooked exercise.  Just this year, my son and I have started our regular basketball practice, it involves a few minutes of walking, and its revitalizing specially under the early morning sun.

  18. I definitely agree. But I am also guilty of not liking walking all the time. Right now, as I just got out of a surgery, that's one of the only things I can do as exercise. I hope I become disciplined enough to do it, even for just one hour a day. Hehehe.

  19. i love walking, too! i just don't like it if it's too hot. i think it was because of walking that my grandfather reached 101 yrs old :)

  22. Walking is indeed a good way to healthy lifestyle. I usually take the steps rather than the lift if it's just 2 or 3 levels away.

  23. we do a lot of that too, talking about walking, running, biking. But we don't DO it! We bought bikes two months ago and used them a few days only. But I'm not about ready to give up! There will be exercising here someday soon!

  24. Walking has always been second nature to me. Sometimes you can have me walk for a few kilometers without complaints :) Just as long as you don't make me walk under the scorching sun

  26. Agree on what you have said walking is the cheapest form of exercise and you can do it always. We burn calories as well if we do regular walking. Also to amped up the exercise instead of using the elevator or escalator you can try the ladder. I always do that in our office. Hooray for the Good and Healthy Living!

    Walking for me is better than running. But since part of my kids training in dancesport is jogging, I jog/run with them to bond with them also.  

    You're one health buff and I admire you for your discipline. Keep it up. :-)

  32. You are right, walking is the cheapest form of exercise. According to some, brisk walking for an hour can burn up to 150 calories.

  33. There is this feeling of uneasiness when  I am with people who  walk  at a slow pace. When that happens, I tend to excuse myself, stating I had to be on my way.I do this too! And yep, I agree that walking eases the mind. :)

  34. I actually love walking, it doesn't only make me feel active but can also make me more familiar with certain places.. :) And yes, walking can definitely be beneficial.
